"Fanny" (Indian Girl) Committed by Samuel Cowles May 13th 1864 from San Francisco. Age 18 or 20 years; native of California; single; occupation, servant for the last eight years - previously lived a savage life. Insanity first appeared about two month(s) since in strange conduct throwing household furniture about, etc.; this is the first attack; disease increasing; symptoms variable with irregular rational intervals; derangement is now manifested in thinking every one is about to kill her - no permanent hallucination; has no disposition to injure herself or others; is not filthy or destructive; no peculiarities; has been temperate; has not suffered from disease or injury so far as known; has not been restrained; cause of insanity unknown; had no treatment. Admitted May 14th 1864. Has no property. Died September 22nd 1864. Address Mrs. J. A. Dougherty Mission St. San Francisco.
