Jim (Chinaman) Committed by Wm E. Greene Judge of San Joaquin Sept. 8th 1868. Age 20 years; native of China; single; was last from China; has been in California 5 years; occupation, cook. The evidence of insanity is he talks and walks a good deal in the night and is then very noisy; talks about boys a good deal; caught a child yesterday by the arm and twisted it; jumped at children with club and knife and would have killed them if not prevented; got on roof of house last night and wanted to sleep there; got a bell and rung it violently and threw it through window of house, also threw dirt and stones into house without any cause; is disposed to kill children. The attack appeared about 3 months since; disease increasing with no rational intervals; is disposed to injure others from premeditation; seemingly has destroyed clothing; has been temperate; complained of the top and back part of his head; cause of insanity unknown; class, dementia. Condition of patient when received about the same as represented in above abstract of commitment. Admitted September 8th 1868 Has no property. Died May 25th 1869 of Consumption (Tuberculosis).
