AIVANO, Helen (Williams) - Helen (Williams) Aivano, 87, of Bittersweet Ridge, Middlefield, beloved wife of Harry Aivano, died Sunday, (March 4, 2007) at High View Health Care Center in Middletown. She was born on August 13, 1919, in Middletown, the daughter of the late Homer Williams and Nell (Beebe) Williams-DeMore. Prior to her retirement, Helen was employed by the State of CT Department of Social Services. She and her family lived in Durham for about 50 years, where she was active in Girl Scouts and belonged to Notre Dame Church. Besides her husband, she is survived by her son, John P. Aivano and his wife Patricia of Houston, TX; two daughters, Susan A. Hall and her husband John of Skokie, IL, and Sandra A. Bouton and her husband William of Easton; five grandchildren, Michael J. Aivano, Rachael A. Moore and her husband Douglas, Matthew Bouton, David Bouton, and Elizabeth Bouton; a brother, Jim DeMore and his wife Janet of Cromwell; also several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters and two brothers, Doris Williams Johnson, Sylvia Williams Klein, Robert Williams, and Claude Williams. The Funeral Liturgy will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Notre Dame Church, Main St., Durham. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in the State Veterans Cemetery, Middletown. Friends may call at the Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St., Middletown, Thursday from 5-7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Notre Dame Church, Main St., Durham, CT 06422 or to The Institute for Neurodegenerative Disorders, 60 Temple St., Suite 8B, New Haven, CT 06510.
