Carlo Federico Marcelletti, was a heart surgeon and Italian medical. Lived in Moie, in the municipality of Maiolati Spontini, province of Ancona, after graduation has improved in cardiac surgery in England and the United States. Between 1972 and 1976 has specialized paediatric cardiac and cardiovascular surgery before at Stanford University of San Francisco (California) and then to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. In 1978 has founded and direct the Centre of Paediatric cardiac Academisch medisch Centrum of Amsterdam. Returned in Italy, in 1982 has become primary of the Department of paediatric Cardiology of the "Bambin Gesù" Hospital in Roma, coordinating also the transplantation of heart and heart programme-lung, posts will until 1995. From 1995 to 1997 plays the role of Visiting Professor at several universities around the world, including: Shneider children's Medical Center, University of Tel Aviv in Israel; Children Hospital William Soler, University of Havana in Cuba; Memorial children's Hospital, University of Warsaw in Poland; Saddam Center for Cardiac Surgery, Baghdad in Iraq. Since October 1997 to June 2000 he directed the Hospital of Modena paediatric surgery unit. The same period in the Hospital hotel, has also been Scientific Director of the international school of advanced Dwight McGoon. Made the first transplant of heart about a child in Italy and tried to surgical treatment of congenital malformations of the heart in subjects in paediatric age. In his long career has visited most of 25,000 children and has operated more than 10,000. On November 20, 2008, Marcelletti review his resignation permanently leaving the Civic Hospital of Palermo. On May 6, 2009 in Roma Carlo Marcelletti diet at the hospital San Carlo Nancy following a illness; the autopsy revealed as cause of death an acute cardiac insufficiency associated with massive overdose of digital, a drug that slows the heart rate up to stop the heart. Marcelletti was buried in the Cemetery of Rosora, province of Ancona, Marche, Italy, with his parents.
