Cause of death TB. A set of triplets died at birth. Son of Wm H & Sarah Finley Collins. Husband of Martha E Goodwin.

Known children: Hattie, Eva (my Great-grandmother), Ernest David Sr, Virgil, Theodore Earl, Zadie & Dovie.

From E.D. Collins, Jr.: My Dad, Ernest D. Collins, Sr. said his father Gid Pilar Collins was a good speaker, often standing in for the local minister at church. He was a farmer, a Justice of the Peace and a very fine person. Martha Elizabeth never re-married after Gid Pilar died, though she was only 42 at that time.

This writer remembers Martha Elizabeth Goodwin Collins, my grandmother, as an attractive lady, very hard working, creative, a God serving lady, tall and straight and slim to the day she died suddenly. She had a good sense of humor, and seemingly was never depressed. She always had a good word for everyone she met.
