She was born April 15, 1919, at Oran, Mo., to the late William and Ada Taylor Black.
Mrs. Abernathy was married Oct. 14, 1933, and her husband Mack preceded her in death Dec. 3, 1975.
She was a member of the Morley Baptist Church.
Jessie was a retired machine operator with the International Hat Co. in Oran.
Survivors include a son, Jim (Maxine) Abernathy of Oran; two daughters, Betty (Gene) Davis of Sebring, Fla., and Vicki Hodges of Concord, N.C.; a son-in-law, Harry Frye Jr. of Florissant, Mo.; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Melba Frye; three brothers; and four sisters.
Friends may call after 4 p.m. Monday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Morley Baptist Church, with Rev. David Thompson officiating. Burial will be in the Old Morley Cemetery.
