Louise (Shorty) Sears Bashore was born in a house in Azusa near the San Gabriel canyon where her father worked for the rock and sand company. The family, sister Annette, father Harvey Andrew, and mother India, moved to 5th Street in Azusa in the mid 1920's. She attended Azusa schools and graduated from Citrus Union High School as a National Honor Student in 1940. Her interests and hobbies were stamp collecting, playing clarinet in the band and orchestra, cheerleading, and sports. After graduation from high school, she worked at the Packing house in Azusa and later was a Hostess with the USO. In 1945 after the war, she married Glenn H. Bashore who she had dated during high school. Louise and Glenn moved to a small house in Azusa where they raised two children. In later years, they moved to the house they had built nearby. In 1955 Louise was hired by the City of Azusa as a Swimming Pool Lifeguard, Instructor, and Swim Coach during the summertime. She enjoyed teaching children and adults how to swim in the 13 summers at the Slauson Plunge. She was also involved with PTA, Little League, and the Band Boosters. In 1968, Louise was hired by the County of Los Angeles Superior Court as a Clerk. She worked 15 years for the County and enjoyed working with various people. She preceded Glenn into retirement in 1983. She excelled at Bridge and was active with weekly Bridge tournaments. Louise was a member of PEO and the Secret Pal club. During retirement, Louise and Glenn traveled on wine tasting trips with friends, attended Navy and Class reunions, Edison annual meetings. They liked going to Laughlin, Nevada with friends. Louise enjoyed visiting with family and friends, going out to lunch, and family gatherings.
