Rose Marie Korol, 90, of Michigan City, passed away Good Friday, April 18, 2014, at her home.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at Notre Dame Church with the Rev. Keith McClelland officiating. Burial will follow at a later date in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Viewing will be from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday at Notre Dame Church.

Root Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Rose was born Aug. 30, 1923 in Hammond, Ind. to the late Wojeiech "George" and Mary (Kot) Grelak.

On May 7, 1947, in Hammond, Ind., she married John Korol of Chicago, who passed away Oct. 9, 1998.

Rose is survived by her children, Regina (Jack) Burkett of Elkhart, Ind., Jerome (Mary) Korol of Meridian, Idaho and Anthony Korol of Michigan City; her grandchildren, Amanda (David) Martin of Mishawaka, Alison Burkett of Elkhart, Jase Korol and Jaimlyn Korol of Anchorage, Alaska; sister-in-law, Helen Slattery, and brother-in-law, George (Betty) Korol.

She is preceded in death by her sisters, Helen (the late John) Golarz and Irene (the late Ed) Bragiel; and one bother, John (the late Rose) Grelak; her daughter, Judith, and sons, Gerald and John, who were all born Nov. 22, 1955 and passed away Nov. 23, 1955.

Rose was retired from J.C. Penney.

Rose had been a member of Notre Dame Church since 1964. She also was a member of the Daughters of Isabella Divona Circle, St. Stanislaus Rosary Sodality, St. Stanislaus Consolation Choir and Young at Heart Club. She had been a member of the Franciscan St. Anthony Health Center of Michigan City Volunteer Guild since 1999, and recently received her 4,000 hour service pin.
