Benjamin G. Akers, Jr., 84, passed away on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at the Coliseum Convalescent and Rehabilitation Center in Hampton, Virginia. He was born in Newport News, Virginia and lived in Hampton with his wife Ruth. He retired as a CWO4 in the U.S. Army in 1996.

Ben was preceded in rest by his parents, Benjamin G. Akers, Sr. and Essie M. Akers; his wife of over 30 years, Ruth Fuller Akers; and his first wife, Betty T. Lamb. He also had an older brother, Gifford Akers. He is survived by (names of the living have been omitted per Find A Grave rules).

Ben enjoyed yard work, fishing, Gatlinburg, TN, old black and white westerns (John Wayne), the Washington Redskins (when they were winning!), and his cats.
