Ethel Van Winkle Wyatt was born near Berea, Kentucky on her parents' farm on Van Winkle Road near Berea. Her father helped found Berea College. Mrs Wyatt moved to Cincinnati OH with her then husband, James Walter Wyatt, also of Berea. They had three children, Velma Ruth, Donna Lee, and a stillborn son. Mrs Wyatt worked for many years as the manager of the Hyde Park Graeter's Ice Cream Parlor. She lived at 3721 Drakewood Drive in Oakley. She raised her grandson, James Alan Bond who graduated from Withrow High School in 1957. She also has four granddaughters, Sandra L. Sharp, Sally J. Sharp, Bonnie S. Sharp, all who were raised in Lexington KY, and Deborah Lee Smith- daughter of Robert B. and Velma Wyatt Smith of Cincinnati, OH.
