NEW ALBANY - Gilbert G. Dowdle, 77, of 401 Lindsley St., died Wednesday at King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison. He was a native of Corydon and a retired employee of the city of New Albany. Survivors: his wife, the former Lena Day; six sons, James Dowdle of Sennville, Rickey Dowdle of Georgetown and Raymond, George, Thomas and Archie Dowdle; five daughters, Carolyn Dowdle of Elizabeth and Barbara Lynch, Betty Hienz, Virginia Dowdle and Rita Carlisle; three sisters, Jean Woods of Louisville, Arvella Lynch of Florida and Ruth Byrom of Kentucky; 52 grandchildren; and 20 greatgrandchildren. Funeral: 11 a.m. Friday, Kraft Funeral Home. Burial: Wolfe Cemetery, Georgetown. Visitation: 6-9 p.m. Thursday and after 8 a.m. Friday.
