Marjorie Paterson SKUBI Age 86, wife of the late Kazimer B. Skubi, M.D., died peacefully of natural causes on August 3, 2008. She was surrounded by her family. Marjorie was born August 20, l921 to Gertrude and William R. Paterson in DeSmet, S.D. She graduated from the University of Minnesota with a five-year Bachelor of Science nursing degree. After marrying Dr. Skubi in l943, she helped him establish his practice in Seattle. She then devoted herself full time to raising her children and community service. Later, she resumed her career, as a recovery room nurse at Swedish Hospital. Marjorie was a strong role model, ahead of her time, caring for people and sharing her strength with many. In a household of four children and their many friends, she fostered an atmosphere of fun and creativity. She was married to Dr. Kazimer B. Skubi for 60 years. Survivors include her children: K. Byron Skubi, M.D. (Jane Mays, M.D.), Ronda Skubi (Edward Sheets), William Skubi (Janis), and Craig Skubi (Linda Duchin); grandchildren: Andrew and Elizabeth Sheets, Austin Skubi, and Kaz Skubi; and sister: Mavis Wiseman. A second sister, Rachael Crum, died earlier this year. A private family service and burial was held at Sunnyside Cemetery on Whidbey Island.
