ST. GEORGE, Utah - Robert Smith Hendricks passed away on Oct. 3, 2008, at age 79. He was born Sept. 27, 1929, to Thomas Alma Hendricks and Inez Larsen Hendricks in Cove, Utah.
He was married to Geraldine Nielsen in the Idaho Falls Idaho LDS Temple on Nov. 24, 1948.
He is survived by his wife, five children, 21 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. His children are; Karen (Mel) Wittwer (St. George, Utah), Susan (Jim) Clawson (Charlottesville, Va.), Steven (Tammy) Hendricks (Atascadero, Calif.), Ellen (Brad) Duncan (Idaho Falls, Idaho), and Amy (Duane) Bascom (West Jordan, Utah). He attended North Cache High School in Richmond, Utah, and graduated in 1947. He graduated from Idaho State University College of Pharmacy in 1952. While attending Idaho State University he was president of the sophomore class, president of the Phi Delta Chi, a pharmacy fraternity, and was vice president of his senior class. He practiced his profession for 40 years and was active in state and local pharmacy associations, serving many years in many capacities as an officer in both including president. He was awarded Idaho Pharmacist of the Year in 1990 for his contributions to his profession and community. He participated as a volunteer in the St. George Live summer presentations, portraying Jacob Hamblin, for many years. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many capacities including teacher, bishop, high council, clerk, temple worker, and many others. He and his wife served three missions for the church: St. George Temple Visitor Center and Historical Sites Mission, New Zealand Wellington Mission, and a mission in the Washington D.C. Temple. He enjoyed many years of temple service. He served as an officiator in the St. George LDS temple for 18 months. Interment Tonaquint Cemetery.
