LOGAN - Stephen Charles Hendricks, 64, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Sept. 28, 2008, at his daughter's home in Millville, Utah, after a long battle with emphysema. He was surrounded by his children and grandchildren who love him very much. He was born in Morgan, Utah, to Bonita Smith Croft and Charles J. Hendricks on Dec. 27, 1943. He had a great love for the outdoors. He loved horses, hunting, fishing and rodeo and spending time with his family. He rode saddle bronc in his younger days. He served in the United States Air Force from 1960 to 1964. He was called to duty in 1963 to serve in the Vietnam War as a door gunner on a Medi-Vac Helicopter. While serving in Vietnam, his helicopter was shot down twice and he was wounded once. He is the recipient of the Purple Heart. He worked at Hill Air Force Base for many years and retired because of a disability. He married Frances Daly in 1965, had four children and later divorced. He married Carol Buck, had three children and later divorced. His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy. He will be remembered for his kind heart and sense of humor. We love and miss you, Dad, and look forward to being reunited with you. He is survived by his best friend, Petey Pup; two uncles, Don (Sam) Smith and Steve (Lorraine) Smith; brother, Jay Wilson; two sisters, Toni (Brent) Ewing and Laurie (Joseph) Quartuccio; five children, Elizabeth (Brian) Wolfe Byington, Virginia (Robert Poulson) Hendricks, Alan Hendricks, Mark Jensen and James Hendricks; two stepchildren, Jeff (Wendy) Storey and Melanee (David) Spendlove; 18 grandchildren, Patrick Spendlove, Lara Boen, Jason Green, Kacee Hendricks, Britany Spendlove, Stephanie Green, Silver Jo Storey, Vincent Hendricks, Kyla Carter, Caleb Wolfe, Morgan Lauterbach, Braiden Byington, Nicholas Carter, Hunter Wolfe, Kadyen Hendricks, Kayliegh Lauterbach, Faith Hendricks and Kira Jensen; two great-grandchildren, Madison Strasner and Levi Steven Hendricks; five nephews; two nieces; and many lifelong friends. Dr. Kevin Duke, you gave us another two very important years with Dad that we will never forget. Thanks to Joyce Larsen for the many hours you spent visiting our dad; to Jon Bailey for all the special gifts you brought to brighten his day; and to his nurse, Jeremy Jensen for your patience, kindness and for all the love you gave him in his final days. You will always be in our hearts. Lara, his granddaughter, thank-you for being at my side when I needed you most. I will never forget. Interment South Morgan Cemetery.
