Meredith Fara Avery, 20, of Dublin, Ga., granddaughter of a Peoria couple, passed away Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011, following a single-car accident.

She was born June 8, 1991.

She is survived by her parents, Don and Fara Avery of Dublin, Ga.; a sister, Amelia Avery of Columbus, Ga.; grandparents Ted and Judy Haney of Panama City, Fla., and Bob and Brenda Avery of Peoria; her best friend, Will Couey; and a number of aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives.

She also leaves behind a host of friends from around the globe whose lives have been forever changed by knowing Meredith and her unbridled passion for life.

Visitation was held at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home in Dublin, Ga., on Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2011. The family also received friends on Thursday, Dec. 22, at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Columbus, Ga.

A memorial service will be conducted at 10 a.m. today at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, with burial to follow at 3 p.m. in Greenwood Cemetery in Panama City, Fla.

The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Zambia Mission Fund, c/o First Baptist Church, 405 Bellevue Ave., Dublin, GA 31021, in honor of the time Meredith spent in Africa and her love for reaching the ends of the earth with God's love.
