Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Peterson-Wallin-Knox Funeral Home, Alpha. The Rev. Catherine Burnett of Bethany Lutheran Church, Woodhull, will officiate. Burial will be in New Windsor Cemetery, where graveside military services will be conducted.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Peterson-Wallin-Knox Funeral Home, Alpha. Memorials may be made to the Illinois Veterans Home, Quincy.

He was born Nov. 5, 1924, a son of Merritt and Hazel Roberts Allison. He graduated from the former Oxford Township High School in Alpha. He married Vivian ``Skip'' Leafgreen on Sept. 12, 1945, in Florida.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, enlisting in March 1943. He served as a radioman/gunner on a sea-rescue plane in the Pacific Theatre. Wayne was attached to a squadron that rescued more than 120 downed American flyers. For his service, he earned the Distinguished Flying Cross Air Medal, the Gold Star in lieu of a second Air Medal, and four additional commendations.

Wayne was a member of Oxford American Legion Post 1197, Alpha, and Bethany Lutheran Church, Woodhull.

Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law Turee and Bruce Olsen, Oak Park, Ill., and Trina and Chris Huene, Edwardsville, Ill.; son and daughter-in-law Dudley and Ruth Allison, Mount Pleasant, Iowa; seven grandchildren; a sister, Phylinda Lampe, Lexington, Ky.; and a brother, Wesley Allison, Starkville, Miss.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Rachel Olson; and a brother, John Allison.
