Pvt Botz was a member of Headquarters Company, 2nd Battalion of the 508 Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division.
He parachuted into Normandy at about 0130 on D-Day, 6 June 1944. He was severely wounded within the next 48 hours and was evacuated to a field hospital before ultimately being returned to the United States. Unfortunately he never fully recovered from his wounds and died on 18 Sep 1944.
