BERRYHILL, CHARLES WARREN, age 78, of Birmingham, passed away on Tuesday December 25, 2001. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mildred McCarn Berryhill; three sons, Stanley Warren Berryhill of Birmingham, Daniel Bryan Berryhill of Brilliant, AL and Jay Thomas Berryhill of Saratoga, CA. Other survivors include: eight grandchildren, Stephanie, Shay, Nathan, Eric, Alex, Brantley, Kelsey and Davis Berryhill; one sister Joyce Manley of Brilliant; two brothers, Wallace and Rayburn Berryhill both of Brilliant. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Chester Berryhill and Agnes Berryhill; and his brother, Russell Berryhill.

Warren was born on September 16, 1923 in Marion County, Alabama. He was an All County football player for the Brilliant High School Tigers in 1940 and 1941. He proudly served his nation for four years as a member of the 82nd Airborne Division. He was an active combat participant in the invasion of Normandy Beach on D-Day. Warren received the Purple Heart of Valor, The Combat Infantry's Badge of Combat and the Jubilee of Liberty Medal given by the people of France to the courageous American liberators.

Warren was employed at Jim Burke Automotive for forty-two years with an outstanding career in the car business. He was widely recognized by his peers and General Motors as one of the top salesmen in the nation.

Visitation will be on Thursday, December 27th from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Elmwood Cemetery's Chapel. A short graveside service and burial will follow in Brilliant Memorial Gardens at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Bruno's Cancer Center. Miles Funeral Home of Winfield, Alabama is directing.

Pfc Berryhill was a member of the Headquarters Company 1st Battalion, 508th Parachute Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division. He was wounded in action on October 12, 1944 in Holland during Operation Market-Garden. He was awarded the Purple Heart and the Combat Infantryman Badge (CIB).
