Grace Emily Pavey was born in Columbine, Colorado, the 2nd of five children born to Joseph Anderson and Aurora Myrtle (Goss) Pavey. Grace spent her first ten years in several places and schools, as her parents moved from job to job, ever northwestward in a covered wagon, arriving in Bozeman, Montana in the spring of 1909. That winter they lived in a cabin just north of Maudlow and the next spring her father filed on a homestead up Sixteen Mile north of Maudlow. Grace spent the rest of her childhood years on the homestead and attended school in Maudlow, riding horseback nearly five miles to do so.

On September 20, 1916, Grace married Hugh Biggs and they began their married life on a rented place a few miles from her parents. The next spring, Hugh rented a wheat ranch at Springhill, west of Belgrade, living there for a number of years. They purchased a home in Belgrade, where Hugh worked in a Blacksmith Shop during the winters and moved to the wheat ranch at Springhill during the summer months. In the fall of 1927 they adopted a baby girl, Lois Jaculine, who developed pneumonia and died at the age of 27 months. They adopted another girl, Betty June, in the fall of 1930. In 1941 they bought a ranch just south of Gallatin Gateway, where they lived about seven years, then bought a home in Bozeman on West Babcock where they lived for over 20 years, moving to a smaller home in Manhattan during their later years.

Hugh passed away January 30, 1975. After his death, Grace lived in several apartments until settling in Bozeman where she met Jim Curdy whom she married on April 1, 1980. Grace was a 59-year member of the Belgrade Chapter No. 85 Order of Eastern Star, and was past Worthy Matron of that Chapter.
