Anna Mae Byers-Keleher, 77, of 1217 18 Road, Fruita, CO, died Saturday, June 18, 1994, in Family Health West Nursing Home in Fruita after a lengthy illness.

Visitation was held Tuesday, June 21, from 9 am to 8 pm at the McLean Funeral Home Chapel in Fruita.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 22, at 2 pm in the Grace Community Church, 1173 17 ½ Road, Fruita, with Pastor Ron McMullan officiating. Burial was in New Elmwood Cemetery at Fruita.

Mrs. Keleher was a homemaker. She was a Fruita resident for 50 years.

She was born August 10, 1916, to William J. Wallace and Emma Buhman Wallace in Plateau Valley near where Vega Dam is now located. She spent her childhood in Plateau Valley and graduated from Collbran High School at Collbran, CO. She attended Ross Business College in Grand Junction, CO.

She was married to Retired Colonel William P. Keleher on September 2, 1972. He died September 28, 1978. She was previously married to William A. Byers on June 4, 1944. Mr. Byers died in 1970.

Mrs. Keleher was a member of Grace Community Church in Fruita. She was active in the Women's Fellowship of the church. She was active in the Republican Party, serving as precinct committeewoman for many years. Mrs. Keleher was a long-time member of the Friendly Service Club, was a member of Silver Bell Rebekah Lodge #115, past member of the Carnation Chapter #70 of the Order of Eastern Star, served for many years as a volunteer at Family Health West and taught children's Sunday school for many years.

She had great love for her family, particularly her grandchildren, loved her church, her friends and her yard.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Retha Byers of Fruita; two sisters, Lena Riedel of Denver and LaVerne Young of Martinez, CA; three grandchildren, William C. Byers, Bryce F. Byers and Lindsay L. Byers, all of Fruita, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Bill Wallace, Fred Wallace and Louis Wallace Hodgson.

McLean Funeral Home, Inc., Fruita, was in charge of arrangements.
