Chester Roy Baker, 77, of Three Forks died Thursday, August 29, at his home.

He was born on February 9, 1914 in Camas to William S. and Sadie Glenn Baker. He married Rose Irene Ross on November 16, 1935 in Bozeman.

In 1914 Baker and his family moved to Absorkee to where he attended school until leaving for Bozeman in 1928 where he furthered his education. In 1969 he moved to Three Forks. During World War II Baker moved to Seattle where he worked in ship yards from 1942 to 1945. He also worked as a mechanic at the Sheep Ranch at MSU, drove his own truck, worked for the city of Bozeman, worked in construction for Haggerty-Messmer and worked for the city of Three Forks until his retirement in 1971.

He is survived by his wife, four sons; Joseph R. Baker of Three Forks, Thomas E. Baker of Bozeman, Rev. Donald L. Baker of Lewistown and Ronald L. Baker of Kalispell; one daughter, Dorothy Wahl of Bozeman; two sisters, Hazel Barry of Three Forks and Adeie Braley of Columbus; 12 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren.

Graveside memorial services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Sunset Memorial Gardens of Bozeman. Cremation has taken place. K & L Mortuaries of Three Forks is in charge of arrangements.
