Ralph S. Arnold, a Bozeman native, died Monday, February 6 at Bozeman Deaconess Hospital. He was 79.

The son of James and Nora Bridgewater Arnold, he was born October 31, 1909. A longtime resident of Manhattan, he worked for years in the ranching business. He worked for George Sinton Ranch and then the Wytana Ranch for 26 years. He retired in 1981.

On November 27, 1937, he married Ida Hyatt. She preceded him in death on October 10, 1980.

He lived the past 2 ½ years with his son Gary in Bozeman.

Survivors include five sons and their wives, Don and Connie Arnold of Indiana, Jack and Pat Arnold of Manhattan, Ken Arnold of Oregon City, OR, Gary and Diane Arnold of Belgrade and Robert N. and Bonnie Arnold of Helena; a daughter, Louise Arnold Bates of Manhattan; two sisters, Florence Stuart of Bozeman and Christine Zindler of Bozeman; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife and two brothers, Herbert and Finis.

Graveside services were held 2 p.m. Friday, February 10, with interment in the Meadowview Cemetery.
