Wife of Turner T. Abernathy∼Wife of T. T. Abernethy
Information from Gracie Cook:
Fannie Abernethy is the daughter of Benjamin Whitener #132182400 and Mary Magadalena Whisenhunt Whitener #132182451. "Births and Baptismal Records of Zion Lutheran Church" records her birth, "Benjamin Whitener and wife M. Magadalena, a daughter Fronica born 20 November 1806 and baptized 3rd January 1807". Benjamin had 15 children and he named them all in his will. He said "Frony" or "Frany" was his youngest daughter. I don't know how much you know about the area where they lived. She was born in Lincoln Co. in the area that became Catawba Co. in 1842. She died in Catawba Co. Fannie married Turner T. Abernethy Oct 25, 1821 in Lincoln Co., NC. This is recorded in "Marriages of Tryon and Lincoln Counties".
I am a Whitener descendant and have worked on that family and my other family lines 32+ years. The majority of my work was done before the days of computers.
I know that Fannie's marker says she was born Oct. 1806, but the birth record says 20 Nov. 1806. Her birth was recorded in German, and I have a copy of all the births from 1806 on. The last birth recorded was in 1861, and at the end it said, "Now to the new book which was lost". So evidently they continued to record the births after that, but the new book was lost. The births were recorded in German until March 1844 and after that in English.
