Surgeon Charles Bower 6th Pennsylvania Reserves (35th PA volunteers), Chief Surgeon First Brigade, 3d division, Fifth Army Corps. Mustered into service June 22, 1861. Promoted to Brevet Lieutenant Colonel and Brevet Colonel, March 13, 1865; mustered out with the Regiment, June 11, 1864.

Dr. Bower was the husband of Harriet Newel Barton Bower, and the father of Mary Margaret Bower Deans, Anna Catharine Bower, John Bower, Thomas Bower, and Charles C. Bower.
