Permelia was married to Robert Amber in Wabash Co. Indiana on Dec. 31, 1846. Permelia's dates are not on the stone, although she is buried with her husband according to her death certificate. Her dates of birth in census records and the Indiana death certificate are conflicting. (date of birth on this memorial is an approximation). Her obituary in the 'Wabash Plain Dealer' (dated Feb. 2, 1914, which also names place of burial) states the she was born in 1829, while two conflicting dates of birth are in the death certificate (one in 1829, the other in 1831). The reporting individual was her son, Samuel Amber. Her mother in the certificate is named as Margaret (the wife her father is buried with). Because of the varying years of birth in census records and the inconclusive nature of her death records, it is difficult to determine whether she is Sarah (Benge) Freeman's last surviving child or Margaret Freeman's first surviving child. She has been connected to George Freeman through DNA research.
