Troy William Cole, 70, son of William P. Cole and Opal F. Peck Cole, was born July 26, 1934, at Norwood. He died Oct. 13, 2004, at Anderson Hospital in Madison, Ill.He married Betty J. Cole Aug. 1, 1970. They lived at Edwardsville, Ill.He was a 1952 graduate of Houston High School and received his bachelor's degree from Southwest Missouri State University, his master's degree in education from the University of Missouri-Columbia and his certificate of specialist from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville.Mr. Cole served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was an educational consultant and program administrator for the Illinois State Board of Education, dedicating 27 years to public education. He was also a published educational author.He coached youth soccer at Edwardsville, where he had lived since 1970.He was preceded in death by his parents.Surviving are his wife of the home; three sons, Vance Cole of Peru, Ind., Kort Cole of Troy, Ill., and Kade Cole of Dorsey, Ill.; one daughter, Lori Spayde of Kokomo, Ind.; one sister, Carolee Roberts; two brothers, Gary Cole and Terry Cole; and four grandchildren.The body was cremated and private services were held under the direction of Laughlin Funeral Home in Troy, Ill.Memorials may be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation, 124 N.
