My Aunt:

Stella M. (Barayazarra) Ordenana, "Mrs.B," a lifelong Montrose resident, passed away unexpectedly at her home early Tuesday morning, Oct. 28, 2008, at the age of 74.

Stella Marie Belarde was born on Sept. 25, 1934 in Montrose, Colo. to Emilio and Pauline (Carabajal) Belarde. Stella spent her childhood in Montrose and graduated from Montrose High School in 1953. In 1959, Stella Belarde married Pedro Barayazarra. In 1960, they welcomed a daughter Nancy Genevieve, and in 1975 had a son Serafin Thomas. The two were married for 31 years until Pedro's death in 1990

Stella was employed as a teacher's aide at Northside Elementary School for over 30 years where she will always be fondly remembered as, "Mrs. B." Working with children was the passion of her life, which continued even up until the time of her death, where she was currently employed as a toddler teacher assistant in Olathe for the head start migrant education program. Children have always kept her young at heart and the lifelong friendships she made with the staff throughout the years meant the world to her and brought her much joy. She was also a loyal member of her church. She always believed in pleasing God and doing what was right.

Stella's hobbies included for many years bowling on various leagues and in recent years she had become an avid Bingo player. Her favorite hobby however, was that of being a grandmother. The most recent addition of Marcelino Tomas who was only three months old, filled her last days with a joy she thought she would not see in this lifetime.

While visiting my Auntie, she always made me feel very comfortable in her home. She was sure a good cook, and always had a plate ready. I am sure going to miss her. I will never forget my Auntie. The love and kindness she gave to so many, I will always carry with me. Her example was a guiding light for me, that I will live by within me for the rest of my life. Thank you Aunt Stella. I love you with all of my heart, and will never let you go.

Stella is survived by her husband, Manuel Ordenana of Montrose, Colo.; widower to Pedro Barayazarra, one daughter, Nancy Geary of Grand Junction, Colo.; one son, Serafin Barayazarra of Lakewood, Colo.; one sister, Emily Duran of Commerce City, Colo.; four grandchildren, Elishia Geary, Amanda Geary, Alexander Barayazarra, and Marcelino Barayazarra. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Joe, Eddie, and Leroy Belarde; one sister, Jennie Romero.

I close my eyes as I wipe a tear.
I just keep wishing you were still here.
I will hold all the memories deep in my heart.
Through these memories will never part.

I close my eyes as I wipe a tear.
I just keep wishing this pain would disappear.
I didn't get the chance to say my last good-bye.
I just didn't think you could ever die.

I close my eyes as I wipe a tear.
All of your love I will always hold near.
In my heart and my mind I will never be alone.
When my time comes......
I will meet you in paradise!
WE LOVE AND MISS YOU
