Irene (Hetu) Bergeron died in Regency Heights of Norwich surrounded by her family. She was the loving wife of the late Frederick Bergeron who died in 1976 of MLS. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Ann (Ross) Hetu.

Irene resided in Putnam for most of her life. She was a communicant of Saint Mary Church of the Visitation and attended every Saturday. She enjoyed reaching out and helping the people around her and had some very special people helping her out along the way.

Irene is survived by her daughter, Cecile Latham of Norwich; her granddaughter Lisa Latham-Shepherd and her husband Christopher of Norwich; her great grandchildren, Christopher Wayne Allen Higginbothan of VA, Ashley-Ann Higginbotham of Jewitt City, Kells Allen of Jewett City, Brianna Evelyn Higginbothan-Dickerson and her husband Ellis of Norwich, Shawnee Helen Marie Higginbotham of Norwich, Rebecca Lynn Shepherd of Norwich, Aaron Michael Shepherd of Norwich; and great great grandchildren, Jeremiah Ellis Dickerson, Ella Irene Rose Higginbotham, and Jayden lee Dickerson; several friends that were like grandchildren to her, Lloyd H. Brown of Thompson, Brad Miracle of NH, Martin Higginbotham of Willimantic, Melzer Heath of Putnam and all of the other children that have been in her life throughout the years whom she loved dearly; and her dog "Low-Rider" who she loved very much. She was predeceased by all eleven of her siblings being the last of the Hetus and Bergerons.
The family would like to thank the staff of Regency Heights of Norwich that had "hearts of gold" for the care given to Irene during her stay.
