He was born May 17, 1926, in Gladstone, MI and grew up in Rapid River, MI. He was son of the late Fred and Agda Ames. Loving husband of the late Alice (nee Piotrowski). Brother of Julaine (Don) Kleine. Brother-in-law of Don (Alice) Piotrowski of Germantown, WI, Roger (the late Loretta) Estep and the late Ed Piotrowski. Uncle of Jane (Sean) West of Silver Spring, MD and Michael Estep. Also survived by other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Rodney enlisted in the Navy in May of 1944 and served in the South Pacific on a yard oiler until 1946. He graduated from Michigan Tech University in June of 1951 and went to work for Koehring as a design engineer. He enjoyed golf and bowling and was on Koehring teams.
At Koehring he met Alice Piotrowski. They were married in December 1956 and made their home in Brown Deer, WI. Over the years they traveled all over the U.S. from coast to coast. After retirement, they traveled to Western Europe and Poland, where the Piotrowski's have relatives.
Visitation Monday, November 3, 2008, from 5-8 PM with Services at 8 PM, at the Zwaska Funeral Home. Private entombment Holy Cross Cemetery.
