Cheryl Lynne Allman passed away on August 22, 2014, at the Piatt County Nursing Home, in Monticello Illinois, after a brief illness. Cheryl was born on February 3, 1956, in Monticello Illinois, the daughter of Leland "Ike" Speer and Eva Clodfelter Speer. She was a graduate of Palatine High School in 1974 and briefly attended College of the Desert in Palm Springs California. Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Donald Speer. She was married to James P Allman on July 14, 1984, in Ivesdale, Illinois. They later divorced but remained friends. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Melea Allman, her former husband, James P Allman, all of Monticello; sister-in-law Lynne Speer; three nieces, two nephews, and several great-nieces and nephews, all of the Chicago area; her Uncle Leon "Moe" Benson, of Monticello, and many cousins who live in Illinois, Kansas, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.

Cheryl was a primarily a homemaker most of her life. She loved animals, enjoyed holidays with her family, had a quick wit, and displayed great courage the past four weeks of her life. After learning her illness was terminal, Cheryl developed a "bucket list"-simple pleasures like a pedicure, her hair colored and cut and a visit to the Indianapolis Zoo to look into the soulful eyes of an orangutan. Her greatest joy was spending time with Melea.

"Somewhere a journey begins at the end of the worldly existence we know. Somewhere a path stretches over the stars and the river of memories flow. Somewhere a silence is heard far away and the brightness of day fills the night. Where the trials of life are resolved into peace, when a soul finds it's way to the light." Daughter, Mother, Aunt, Cousin, and Friend, sweet Cheryl, live in the light now, dance with Donny, and then find your seat at our family table. We will remember and love you forever.

Cheryl was a friend of Bill W and Dr Bob. Memorials may be made to Faith in Action (Monticello), Piatt County Nursing Home, and Carle Hospice.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 30, 2014 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home, Monticello with Pastor Randy Dempsey officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home. Interment will be held in the Monticello Township Cemetery.
