"Mrs. Phoebe Beebee, 81, died at her home in Duplain Friday evening, December 11, 1931, after an 8-day illness.
Phoebe A. Doyen was born in Hillsdale County, Michigan, August 26, 1850. At the age of 11 years she, with her parents, moved to Clinton County and settled in Ovid township, later moving to Duplain, where she lived until death.
On December 14, 1868, she was united in marriage to Nelson W. Beebee, a veteran of the Civil War. To this union were born five children, four of whom, together with the husband and father, preceded her in death.
Mrs. Beebe was a Christian woman and had been a member of the Church of Christ for more than 50 years. She was a loving mother, a good wife and a kind friend, loved by all who knew her and her sunny smile and words of cheer will be greatly missed.
Of the immediate family, only one child remains, Mrs. Dewey Treat, who together with the son-in-law, lived at the family residence in Duplain.
Funeral services were conducted at the home Monday afternoon by her pastor, Rev. L. A. Fisher with burial in the Rochester Colony Cemetery. Russell Ash, accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Luman Hall sand "Abide with Me" and "Rock of Ages".
Included among those from a distance who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Gumaer, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Treat, Ovid; Mrs. Lois Wheeler and Mrs. Florence Ruggles of Lansing."
Rochester Colony Cemetery is the previous name of Duplain Cemetery. There is no record of her burial. However, the Clinton County Historical Society is convinced she is buried in this cemetery.
