During the Civil War, enlisted as a Private in Company H, 10th Connecticut Infantry on September 12, 1861. Promoted to Musician on December 20, 1861. Received a Disability Discharge on May 9, 1863.

Admitted to Rosenburg Branch, U. S. National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers, at Hampton, VA on September 25, 1883. Died in the Hospital there on August 9, 1891.
