She was the daughter of the late Thomas James and Ethel Bouknight Cunningham. She was a graduate of Columbia High School, class of 1939. Upon graduation she went to work for Southern Bell for over 36 years. Following that, she opened Ethel's Uniforms on Broad River Road where she owned and operated her business for over 35 years. She was a member of St. Andrews Baptist Church and former longtime member of Reformation Lutheran Church. She had numerous stories and tales to share. She took the positive high road in life, always seeing the best in everyone.
Survivors include her sons, Richard A. Addy and Paul D. Addy of Columbia; brother, William M. Cunningham and wife, Iva of Blythewood; sister, Mary C. Thomas of Lexington; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her late husband, William Brevard Addy and brother, T. J. Cunningham, Jr.
