She was a young student at Felton Laboratory School at South Carolina State University, Roberts High School in Holly Hill, and was a graduate of Wilkinson High School in Orangeburg. She attended South Carolina State University and continued her education at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, where she received a bachelor of science degree and two master of science degrees in education and counseling. She was employed in education and career counseling at several colleges and universities, and later with the S. C. Department of Mental Health until her retirement in 1993.

She was a member of Hill Zion Missionary Baptist Church, where she worshiped until her illness and subsequent passing. She was also a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., the national Democratic party, NAACP and the University of Massachusetts-Amherst Alumni Association. She was 69.

She was the daughter of the late Albert Wright and Madeline Swett Wright and the widow of Dr. Cleo C. Abraham.

Her survivors include four children, Cindy Abraham Saulsberry (Harry) of Orangeburg. Dr. Angela Abraham of Boston, Anthony O. Abraham (Sharnette) of Winston-Salem, NC and Jason B. Abraham (Qualia) of Orangeburg; a brother, John Morris Wright (Barbara) of Orangeburg; a sister, Aliene Wright Robinson of New York; grandchildren, Catherynne, Elizabeth, Kevin II, Taylor, Joshua, Marteka, Martez, Aubrey, Sunny, Keewannee, Shawn, Alex and Stormy; aunts, Marie N. Davis, Dorothy S. Robinson, Malqueen W. Wright, Wilhelmina W. Williams and Beatrice J. Swett; four brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
