Drag Strip Victim In Hospital Here
A Chicago teenager, injured over the weekend in an accident at a drag strip, may never walk again.
Physicians at Porter Memorial Hospital said Richard Dee, 18, Chicago may be confined to a wheelchair because of a spinal injury sustained when his racer crashed into a fence at the U.S. 30 Drag Strip. Authorities said the machine went out of control at about 150 miles per hour.

Drag Strip Victim Dies
A Chicago youth who sustained severe neck and spinal injuries in a drag strip accident the last weekend of July died Wednesday evening in Porter Memorial Hospital.
Deputy Coroner Robert Waits said Richard Dee, 18, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Dee, died at about 9:45 PM Wednesday. An autopsy was to be performed today.
Dee reportedly suffered neck and spine fractures when his racer went out of control at 150 miles per hour and crashed into a fence at the U.S. 30 Drag Strip in Lake county.
Dee's parents told Waits their son built racers, but nearly always had someone else drive them. When the accident occured, Dee was reportedly driving for only the second time in a drag strip race.
