"William Alfred Martin, 72, of 140 Susan Drive, Garner, died May 20,2009, at his home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Floyd Memorial Chapel inLumberton, the Rev. David G. Anderson officiating. Burial will follow the service at Gardens of Faith Cemetery.

He was born on Dec. 16, 1936. He was the son of the late Worth B. Martin and Beulah Kinlaw. Martin was a postal clerk for the United States Postal system.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Katie Powell Martin.

He is survived by his three daughters, Debbie Hicks and her husband Keith, both of Wilmington, Sharon Haggins and husband Douglas, both of Garner, and Karen Speights and her husband Randy, both of Sylva; a sister, Mary Jones of Newport News, Va.; and three grandchildren, Christopher Hicks, Dillon Haggins and Amanda Stephens.

The family will receive friends before the service at 1 p.m. at 809 E. Fifth St., Lumberton."
