Leonhardt Böhner was born in the Kingdom Of Bavaria under the rule of King Ludwig I in the small town of Pöllersdorf in Upper Franconia, July 27, 1827.
In 1853 the young farmer along with family and friends including his future wife Barbara Wunderlich boarded the clipper ship Russell Sturges in Bremen and sailed to America. They landed in New Orleans on Nov. 5, 1853.
Leonhardt and Barbara were married in St. Louis, Missouri on Dec. 13, 1853.
In 1854 they settled in Springfield, Illinois where Leonhardt Americanizes his name to Leonard Boehner and works as a laborer and gardener. Leonard and Barbara have 8 children (3 die in childhood).
Leonard dies in 1912 at the age of 85 Years, 2 Months, 27 Days.
