Lorene was born in Geneva, NE while her parents were temporarily staying there; her family lived in Salida, CO. She was educated in Salida public schools and then graduated from Western State College in Gunnison, CO. Lorene married twice: First to Paul Bauter and had three children: Robert Bauter and the twins Edward and Edwin Bauter. After Paul died, she married Clifford Vredenburgh who was a language professor at Long Beach State College.
She was buried with her first husband, Paul Bauter.
