"Malcolm L. Allen
"February 8, 1940 - June 30, 2011

"Malcolm "Mac" L. Allen, age 71, of Wilson, NY, died, suddenly, June 30, 2011, at his home in Wilson, NY. Born February 8, 1940 in Rockland, ME, he was a son of the late Edward and Lucy (Cassidy) Allen.

"Mac worked as a lobster fisherman as a teenager and graduated from Rockland High School in 1958. He entered the United States Navy in March of 1962, and was released from active duty in March of 1966. Vocationally, he was an electronics technician at Harris Corp., a trade he learned while in the Navy. Mac met his wife of 44 years, Barbara Jeanne (McGirr) Allen in 1966, and they were married one year later in Buffalo, NY. They resided in South Thomaston, ME for three years, Hilton, NY for 28 years, Kendall, NY for seven years and Wilson, NY for the past six years.

"His hobbies included antiquing or as he called it 'treasure hunting', berry picking, enjoying nature, and fixing whatever needed to be fixed. Mac really loved conversing with people and taking return trips to Maine as much as possible. Attending church every Sunday was a highlight of his week and he was always there to help people. Most of all Mac loved spending time with his family.

"Surviving him are his beloved wife, Barbara; sons, * * *; sister, * * *; brothers, * * *; close aunt and uncle, * * *. Mac loved his seven grandchildren: * * *. He also had many nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed.

"Visitation will be Sunday, July 3, 2011 from 3-7 PM at the Hamilton and Clark Funeral Home, 270 Young St., Wilson. Funeral services will be Monday, July 4, 2011, at 11:00 AM, at Exley United Methodist Church, 338 Lake St., Wilson, where Mac's wife, Barbara was pastor for five years. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, any contributions to help offset funeral costs would be greatly appreciated and can be sent to Exley United Methodist Church."
