Richard J. Aber Obituary


Richard J. Aber Sr., a retired carpenter for Reeves Construction Co., E. Orange, N.J. and lifelong area resident, died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2007 at Bon Secours Community Hospital, Port Jervis, N.Y.

The son of the Robert C. Aber Sr. and Laura Carter Aber, he was born Jan. 31, 1915 in Westtown, N.Y.

He was married to the late, Cora "Sis" Haring Aber, who passed away Sept. 20, 2007.

He was a member of the Southern Baptist Church, Eustis, Fla.; Eustis Lodge of Masons #85 F&AM; and Eustis Eastern Star #19. He was 32nd Degree Mason, Lehigh Consistory and a member of the Iren Temple, A.A.O.N.M.S.

Survivors include four daughters, Valure Churchill and Dixie Lee Marion, both of New Jersey, Marion Mills of Port Jervis, Linda Arnold and husband Richard of Dingmans Ferry; three sons, Richard J. Aber Jr. and wife Sally of Sparrowbush, N.Y., Francis "Junie" Hall and wife Sally of Matamoras, and Ora B. Hall and wife Alice of Dingmans Ferry; one brother, Harry Aber of Slate Hill, N.Y.; three sisters, Nellie Watson of Palatine Bridge, N.Y., Edna Storms of Bullville, N.Y., Ethel Zeak of Ocala, Fla.; 24 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Richard was predeceased by two brothers, Albert and George Aber and one sister, Emma Aber.

Private services were to be held at the convenience of the family with the Rev. James Brosius to officiate.

Interment for both Cora and Richard will take place at Mill Rift Cemetery.

Contributions may be made to the Port Jervis-Deerpark Humane Society, Route 209, Port Jervis, NY 12771 or to the charity of the donor's choice.
