Thank you to all who visit Buddy.

I was walking along in November 1999 and I saw you there laying on the side of the road. You were so weak but you got up to meet me. I spoke to you and told you I would go get you some food and water. I looked back and you were trying to follow but so weak you lay down in the middle of the road. I ran back and picked you up. You were so underweight but as I held you in my arms to carry you home with me I could see the desire to live in your eyes. You came into my life then even though I did not want a Basset Hound.

I got a half mile down the road when Mike and Liz Causby came by and gave us the mile ride home. I got you food and water and looked at you with no fur, toenails grew under your paws and so dirty. There were so many things wrong but we went to see Dr. Hemstreet at Morganton Animal Clinic. He doctored you and I gave you all the love I could.

Several trips and you begin to get better and we went on a few walks. We became the best of friends and I looked forward to our walks to the river each day. No better friend have I had then you. You were with me in 2003 when I lost my job and through all the hard times. Old age, blindness and cancer took its toll and I watched you go downhill.

You know I cried as we had to relieve all the pain you were in. I thank GOD for the 8 1/2 years we had together. I will miss you and remember you always. I miss the howls and the special little howl you would give me. You had traits I wish I had. You never met a stranger, so easygoing and was always happy with what you had. Take care my friend!!
