Charles D. Alexander, formerly a resident of Attalla and one of the most prominent men of the state, passed away Sunday morning at 4 o'clock at his home of Prattville. He was 48 years of age and had been in failing health for several months. His death has caused deep regret in Gadsden, Alabama City and Attalla, where he was well known. He was a man of considerable influence and owned much property.

The remains are due to arrive here over Louisville & Nashville railroad at 4 o'clock. The funeral party will go to Forrest cemetery where services will be conducted by Rev. E. Lucien Malone, pastor of the Episcopal church of this city.

The funeral party will consist of Mrs. Alexander, Miss Reba Alexander and Miss Mattie Alexander, sisters of the deceased, and his brothers, Payton Alexander, John Alexander and Menta Alexander.

The active pallbearers will be Dr. N.N. Vann, A.L. DuPre, C.M. Frost, W.F. Stowers, H. Barrett, E.H. Cross, E.B. Johnson and Otto Agricola.

Charles D. Alexander died at his home at Prattville, Autauga county, Saturday night after a lengthy illness.

The remains will arrive here this afternoon over the Louisville & Nashville and will be interred in Forest cemetery.

The Knights of Pythias of Attalla and Gadsden will meet the train and will escort the body to the cemetery. The beautiful Pythian ceremony will be said at the grave.

Mr. Alexander's death will cause much sorrow throughout this entire section, for he was well and favorably known here. For a long time he was United States commissioner there and later he operated the Attalla Hotel. His holdings in business property there are still large He was for a long time a director in one of Gadsden's big banks and was identified with the leading business and banking interests in Attalla. He married Miss Nellie Forman of that city and was connected by blood and by marriage to some of the leading families in Alabama. His wife survives him.

The body is expected to arrive at 3:30 o'clock and it will be taken directly to the cemetery. There the funeral will be conducted by Rev. E. Lucien Malone, rector of the Church of the Holy Comforter, of this city.
