Dwight F. Ackles, of rural Scotia, Nebraska departed this life and entered The Eternal Home on December 27, 2009, at Heritage Living Center in St. Paul, Nebraska after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Dwight was 75 years of age Having been born on January 31, 1934, in Sherman County, Nebraska to Franklin and Helen (Philbrick) Ackles.
Dwight lived with his family in rural Garfield and Valley Counties in Nebraska as a child. They moved to California where they lived for a short time before returning to Nebraska. He attended rural grade schools and high school in Ord and Burwell, Nebraska. Dwight served in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1958 and was stationed in Germany. He was united in marriage to Oline Jensen of Elba, Nebraska on December 13, 1959, at Dannevirke Lutheran Church.
The couple lived in rural Sherman and Howard Counties in Nebraska. Dwight was a farmer and rancher and also worked in carpentry for several years. He also did his own mechanical work on the farm. He took pride in his cattle and loved to see the calves in the spring. He liked getting the haying and harvesting done.
The couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on December 13, 2009. Dwight enjoyed his children and grandchildren. He made many kites and toys for his children. Dwight loved to play the guitar and making music with his family. He taught his wife and daughters to play the guitar and was starting to teach the grandchildren. He liked the old country songs. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, and he as an expert hunter. He also liked to restore old tractors.
Dwight is survived by: his wife, Oline Ackles of Scotia, Nebraska; sons and daughters-in-law, Galen and Laurie Ackles of Cotesfield, Nebraska and Shawn and Nicole Ackles of Scotia, Nebraska; daughters, and sons-in-law, Rene` and Doug Derner of St. Paul, Nebraska; Trina and Craig Beed of Shelton, Nebraska and Shannon Ackles of St. Paul, Nebraska; son-in-law, Russell Wysocki of St. Paul, Nebraska; brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Jean Ackles of Ord, Nebraska; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Reatha Beneke of Ord, Nebraska; Maxine and Wayne Mattern of Ainsworth, Nebraska and Lois and Duane Kjeldgaard of Las Vegas, Nevada and a host of friends and relatives.
Dwight was welcomed into The Heavenly Home by: his parents, Franklin and Helen Ackles; daughter, Reba Ackles Wysocki and grandson, Logan Derner.
