Ernest Albers, Sr. formerly of Litchfield, of Hudson, S.D. died Tuesday, May 1, 1990, at the Colonial Manor in Hudson, S.D. at the age of 82 years, 7 months, and 16 days.
Funeral Services were held Saturday, May 5, 1990 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Christian Church in Litchfield with Rev. Richard Taylor officiating.
Music was provided by John Cherry with Ramon Jensen singing "The Old Rugged Cross".
Casketbearers were Lyle and Junior Diefenbaugh, William Albers, Donald Mulbach, Warren McAuliff, and Dean Kohls.
Interment was in the Litchfield Cemetery. Visitation was held Friday, from 6-8 p.m. at the Litchfield Memorial Funeral Home in Litchfield.
Ernest Edward Albers was born Sept. 17, 1907, at Loup City to William and Cora May Albers. He received his education at the Clear Creek Rural School north of Litchfield.
He married Hazel Diefenbaugh in Grand Island on May 9, 1929. They moved to Sioux Falls and lived there for many years. He worked for Iseman Mobil Home for many years. They moved back to Litchfield in 1969. Hazel died in 1974. He then moved back to Canton, S.D. to be near his son. He entered Colonial Manor in 1987 and lived there until his death.
Survivors include his daughter-in-law, Mrs. Lyle (Brenda) Berg of Canton, S.D; three sisters, Mrs. Floyd (Edna) Runge of Coeur D'Alene, Ida., Bessie Stephens, of Broken Bow, and Verna Plambeck of Edison, Wash.; four grandchildren, two great grandchildren, many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Ernest Jr. (Butch) who died in 1984, and two brothers, William and Merle.
Litchfield Memorial Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
