Robert J. Carothers, 80, of Piqua, died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2000 at Koester Pavilion, Troy. He was born in Sidney on Sept. 11, 1919 to the late Jean and Edna Gartley Carothers.

He married Lois J. Black Cron on Sept. 3, 1960, and she survives.

Other survivors include a stepdaughter, Mrs. Lois Ann Slocumb; two step-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren.

Mr. Carothers was preceded in death by one brother and a sister.

Mr. Carothers was a United States Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, worked at the Piqua Daily Call for many years, and, at the time of his retirement, was the advertising manager. He was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home, Piqua, with the Dr. Daniel Clow officiating. Burial will follow in the Graceland Cemetery, Sidney, where full military services will be provided by V. F. W. Post 4874.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
