Funeral services for Marilyn Darlene Brown, 68, of St. Cloud, Minn., will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Westwood Community Church in St. Cloud. Pastor Dan Gordon will officiate. Burial will be in Ponto Lake Cemetery, Longville, Minn.

Marilyn passed away peacefully Thursday, March 23, 2006, after a very long and courageous five-year battle with ovarian cancer. There will be a visitation from 2-6 p.m. Sunday at the Miller-Carlin Funeral Home in St. Cloud and again after 10 a.m. Monday at Westwood Community Church.

Mrs. Brown was born Dec. 11, 1937, in Piqua to John and Helen (Hildebrand) Brumbaugh. She married Peter Brown on Oct. 5, 1957, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Piqua.

Marilyn was a member of the National Honor Society. Marilyn worked in the law enforcement as well as the legal field as an administrative assistant for many years. She worked with child support for Miami County in Troy prior to moving to Backus, Minn., in March 1973. Marilyn then began her career in Child Support with Cass County Social Services and worked there until retirement in 1993. She and her husband moved to St. Cloud in 1998.

Marilyn was known for her strong faith in God, which was evident the moment you met her and her beautiful smile that would light up any room. She showered everyone she knew with love and the gift of hospitality through cooking, baking, canning, entertaining and doing anything possible to show love and caring to all of those who crossed her path in life. She enjoyed harp and piano music as well as gardening, fishing, knitting, greeting card ministry, nature and all of God's wonderful creation.

Marilyn was always involved in church and was a member of Agape Fellowship in St. Cloud. She volunteered in a variety of ways throughout her life, including the Pregnancy Resource Center for many years.

She is preceded in death by her parents and a baby son that she miscarried. Marilyn will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. She touched many lives and each of those lives were forever changed after meeting her.

Heartfelt thanks to the extraordinary staff at the St. Cloud Hospital Oncology Unit, St. Cloud Hospice and Home Care, the Coborn's Cancer Center and Dr. Hauge.
