He was a native of Germany who moved to Nebraska as a boy. Before moving to Salem in 1964 he operated a community hospital for 18 years in Nebraska.
He was a 60-year member of the Odd Fellows.
Survivors include widow Mary E.; daughter Mrs. Ferne Rice, Salem; one grandchild and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Virgil T. Golden mortuary, Rev. Harvey C. Coovert officiating. Interment will be in the City View Cemetery.
