Helen A. Castellano Arcurie of Jefferson Twp. died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015, in the early morning at the Green Ridge Nursing Center. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Eugene (Geno) Arcurie Sr., on Feb. 1, 2005. Helen was born in Scranton on Oct. 12, 1922, and was the daughter of the late Michael and Rose Annick Castellano. She was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School. Helen was a very family oriented woman known for her contagious smile, which was passed on to generations to come. Helen was always baking and cooking for her family, and never let a single soul go hungry. She crocheted and sewed her entire life for her family, and even made blankets for the VNA Hospice Unit and other charitable groups. With her devotion to the Blessed Mother and St. Anne, she was a member of the St. Michael's Church, West Scranton, and St. Eulalia's Church, Elmhurst. Helen was also preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Mary Ann; sisters, Grace Ferrario, Betty Abbott and Mary Malachowski; brothers, Carmen and Joseph Castellano; and two grandsons, William and Brendyn. A blessing service will be conducted on Friday at 10 a.m. in the Guido-Fiorillo Funeral Home, 120 S. Main Ave., Scranton. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton. Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m.
