Daughter of Richard Hodges and Martha Hodges.

Clarissa was baptised on the 12th April 1789, at at St Nicholas Church, Thanington, Kent.

She married James Edmed, on the 6th January 1816, at St Nicholas Church, Thanington, Kent, and they had some children
C1. Clarissa Edmed born c1820, Canterbury, married Henry Pettit (widower), on 22/9/1840, at St Dunstan Church, Canterbury, Clarissa was a spinster at the time of her marriage, (marriage certificate on FMP), then she remarried to James Burch Peall, in 1852 (Qtr 2), St. George Southwark, London (1881 census, Greenwich, London, Clarissa was born in Canterbury), James & Clarissa were licensed victuallers, she died 1891 (Qtr 1), aged 71 at Camberwell, Surrey (see memorial 218191316)
C2. Elizabeth Emma Edmed baptised 30/1/1824, at St Mary the Virgin Church, Ashford (James was a farmer), married George Richard Dunn, on the 11/12/1847, at St Martin in the Fields, London, he was a bachelor, she was a spinster (marriage certificate on A) (see attached memorial)

Marriage under the name of James Edmeads, James was a bachelor, Clarissa was a spinster they married by licence, both signed, and their wedding was witnessed by Richard Hodges and ?? S. Hodges (marriage record on FMP).

1841 census James & Clarissa were living at St Dunstan Street, St Dunstan, Blean, and Elizabeth Edmed (aged 17, daughter). James was a victualler.

James died in 1844 and was buried at St Nicholas churchyard, Thanington.

1851 census Clarissa (aged 62, widow) is living at Station Road, Ashford, West Ashford, Kent, along with her daughter Elizabeth Dunn (aged 27, married), and her husband George R. Dunn (head of house, aged 28, married, inn keeper), and her other daughter, Clarissa Pettit (aged 30, married, bar maid), John Pettit (aged 10), and a couple of servants and a traveller.

1861 census George Dunn (aged 39, married), was living at 5, Dare John Lane, St George the Martyr, Canterbury, along with Emma Dunn (aged 37, married), and his mother in law Clarissa Edmed (aged 71, widow), George was a proprietor of houses.
