John Conant is buried in St Peter's Church, Sandwich. His memorial there reads:
H.S.E. [Hic Sepultus Est] Johannes CONANT, A.M. hujusce Ecclesiae annos XLIV. Pastor pius, fidelis, dilectus. Vir fi quis alius Candore et Caritate vere Christiana praestans. Natus xviii Aprilis MDCCXXXV. Denatus xxx Marrii MDCCCXI.
In eodem simul sepulchro Anna CONANT, Coujux amantissima, obiit 1 Septembris MDCCCXI. Aet. LXXVIII.
which translates (roughly)
Here lies John Conant, for 44 years . . . Rector of this Parish. Born April 18 1735. Died 30 March 1811. In the same tomb lies Ann Conant, his beloved wife, died 1 September 1811, aged 78.
A note to the Kent Archaeological Society transcription reads: "This worthy Divine was the elder Brother of Sr. Nathanial CONANT, the chief Magistrate at Bowstreet. He had an impediment in his speech. Of his Family much will be found in Nichols's Literary Anecdotes. IBN"

In memory of / The Rev. John Conant, Rector of this Parish, Vicar of Elmsted / Died in London, April 22nd 1779 Æt.73 /Buried in the Cemetery of St. George the Martyr, Bloomsbury
Also of his wife, Mary, daughter of the Rev. William Wake / Rector of Walgrave, Northamptonshire, first cousin of Archbishop Wake. / She was distinguished by superior qualities of mind and person. / Died April 9th 1773 Æt.61 Buried in this chancel.
Also of their eight sons:
John, Rector of St Peter's Sandwich and Vicar of Teynham, / Died March 30th 1811 Æt.75 buried at Sandwich
William, died July 22nd 1753 Æt 16 buried in this chancel.
Herbert, died February 25th 1759 Æt nearly 18 buried here.
Nathaniel, knighted in 1813 died at his house in Portland / Place, London, April 12th 1822 Æt.77 buried at Finchley
Culpepper, M.A Trin Coll, Cambridge died May 8th 1815 Æt 67 / buried at Mortlake Surrey
Elias, died in Bengal, September 20th 1765 Æt 16
and two others who died in infancy
